      we got a nice yellow card informing us of the local elections, then the following week they sent out a second batch of white cards to inform us of the general election on the same day in the same polling stations with the only changes being "general election" instead of "local election" and the wards changed to constituencies

      sending a single combined card would save money, and the governments primary job is to spend our money

    Not the council's fault

    Election timetables are set by law. The council election timetable requires notification to be published before the general election was called.

    It might not feel like it, but the legal timetable for a general election is incredibly tight. This could all be solved if we moved to fixed-term Parliaments.
