    600 tabs in one window!

    I routinely have two or three windows open with around 20-30 tabs in each, but 600! I take it the person in question had just been introduced to tvtropes.org?

      Other possibilities

      1. Set to always open new tabs, not popup windows, and has been browsing porn sites.

      2. Accidentally opened entire bookmark collection at once.

      3. Cat is standing on keyboard, pressing the 'open new tab' keys.

    Firefox in Antarctica

    The US Antarctic Program (USAP) has the largest population on the continent, and within the USAP it's common for Firefox to be the preferred browser. This is, perhaps, a reflection of an eclectic crew, an open-minded IT staff, and a pervasive USAP emphasis on IT security.

    34 tabs open atm.

    Bar Tab makes opening FF lightning fast even with this number.

    Reminds me of 20-ish years ago when I first encountered the internet and the then big thing which was usenet ... remember posting a question about (I think) Ami Pro (Lotus word processing program) in one of the groups and being amazed that the reply I got was from someone based in Antarctica!

    600 tabs? That might have been me!

    My laptop tends to crash occasionally (perhaps a hardware problem) like this: the keyboard and built-in mouse become unresponsive while the software seems to think the last key is still held down, so it autorepeats. It doesn't happen frequently enough for me to have bothered looking for a better solution so I hit the shutdown button, but the OS then asks for confirmation. I could plug in an external mouse to do that, but usually I just let it time out after 60 seconds. Last night that happened with Ctrl-T in Firefox. One minute of autorepeat opened a lot of new tabs, and when I restarted it I found all the tabs had been saved. Remarkably, Firefox was still usable with those (probably about) 600 tabs open.

    600 tabs?

    I've done 300 (including flash) but not in Firefox. I have it on a Dell poweredge 1650 server (2x 1.1Ghz P3s, 4gb ram, winXP) running opera 9.64. Most have been open since September 08 (they're research for a book), spread across 5 windows (the tab panel is a godsend!)

    Because it's a 1U server, at home (it was free!) it's hibernated every night. Using Firefox, I can get to about 20 tabs, on a 6gb Q6600 system, before it [firefox] bogs down and becomes unusable. I can do 40 opera and 40 chrome tabs at the same time, and that doesn't happen.

    I think when the Google money dries up, and it can't advertise so strongly, we'll see usage drop, especially if someone holds Mozilla to their claims

    With security, stability, speed and much more" Except Secunia tells a different story when it comes to security, Opera and Chrome annihilate it on the speed front, and stability? Firefox crashes more than a drunk stroke-victim granny, riding a crotchrocket along a diesel-covered road. Let's not also forget the 'much more' refers to everything you have to download, coded by 3rd parties, to give it some basic features like ad-blocking.
