I love Sir Tim but does he honestly believe that our political mutant lizard overlords want an informed electorate?

    Big Brother

    Of course he does...

After all, the more data governments make available, the more data there is for his new employer to hoover-up and use...

After all Google is all-for making data public; unless, of course, it's information about *their* business - then it's "none of your business" !

[ btw, how come we STILL don't have an 'evil Google' icon? ]

    Stop

    Yes but...

What's the cost of Tim Berners Lee to the taxpayer?

The Web Sciences department / quango is funded by us, ultimately.

    Data sharing?

Isn't data sharing something that as a priority should be made available to the citizens/subjects by their government?

Just look at UK local authorities enthusiasm to cold shoulder the Sustainable Communities Act 2007.

The first principle should be: accountability

    Second: openness

    Third: citizen/subject involvement

All of those may be attained by web based initiatives.

So which data is this then?

Is this the data created by government organisations that we've paid for and can't have; or is it our personal details that shouldn't be available but are given out wholesale to any unfriendly government that asks for it?

    Welcome

    When the iPad

takes over we will need a country rating standard. Why not good citizen information data?
