    It's a pity they don't use them here in Aus. Our local traffic lights fail every time it rains (no drought jokes, please. I live in a very wet bit of Aus that has a lot of rain for half the year)

    Obviously you lot in Europe believe the spin of Krudd's minions, a follower of NuLabour (spelt NuLabor here in Oz.) bullshit. Don't bother applying for a visa 'cos there really aren't enough IT jobs here. Cockheads such as Qaintarse, Telstra, the big banks have ensured that the local industry is fucked by sending IT jobs to Mujibah land.

    However, if you can drive a 250 tonne haulpack or a front end loader, or do welding or pipework then there's shit loads of jobs in the North West of Western Australia on the mine sites or on the mega oil & gas projects.

Which IT geek wants to move to a country where the government keeps on trying to make the technologically adept the "bad guys" of the latest "war on X" (substitute X with Terrorism, Child Pornography, or whatever you feel will get you re-elected next year)

    German geeks: your country in the 1930s had more freedom than we do here in Australia. Go to China instead. The only stuff they filter there is sites about the Tiananmen Square massacre and Falun Gong. Australia intends to filter everything that isn't suitable for Disney.

    What bloody IT jobs?!

    What do they mean "skill shortage"?! As a Linux specialist here in Oz, I'm finding it extremely hard to find any sort of decent job here!

    I've just come back from Scotland where they actually KNOW what IT is and *use* stuff like Linux!

    And yes, someone who's NOT a luddite in the govt would make a nice change!
