    Outside their core competency

    But how will this benefit Walmart? They might not lose money in the long run, and Vudu may indeed benefit (though it appears to be doing fine on its own) but how will this help Walmart move more merchandise? If customers get more of their movies online, that means less DVD sales. This is like EBay buying Skype. You can sort of see how it might help the business, but not really.
