The website supplier responsible for the DirectgovKids porno brand name gaffe that we first reported late last week has admitted it failed to spot the clanger when searching for the name via Google. Guardian Professional, which currently supplies the DirectgovKids site and its content, created an unfortunate brand name - …
That's probably because they didn't have a rigorous checking procedure. More likely than not there probably wasn't any searching via Google for the tag, maybe just the name Buster. So not very rigorous at all. Just because they make big huge government websites doesn't mean that they know what they are doing. Just read the latest report into the direct.gov.uk website and how it isn't being useful, in fact being counter productive.
So if you want anarchy nothing to stop me coming round your house ( no doubt you live somewhere and pay rent?! ) and shooting you in the head or nicking all your stuff and no one will stop me or tell me off?!
As an anarchist you have enough faith in "the system" to get a computer and expect electricity and internet to make your computer work then?
from Greek: ἀναρχίᾱ anarchíā, "without ruler"
However, it is true that the ignorant masses equate anarchy with a state of unconstrained death and chaos, but that is mainly due to the active and ongoing propagandizing by our <ahem> rulers throughout modern history.
You can see how they might benefit from having the seething masses believing such things.
@The Fuzzy Wotnot
nah, what's to stop me from killing you before you even try it. Also my neighbours would be joining in at you too because you upset the balance of the community. That is anarchy my friend.
Some might say it was the purest form of Communism (we haven't seen any truly communistic governments on this planet to date, just corrupt dictatorships)
Maybe I misunderstand their purpose, but aren't these CEOP buttons for reporting "paedo" or other illegal content.
Not being one myself (and I've got bairns to prove it, an' all) I'm not up with the intricacies of homosexual law, but I'm fairly sure that "that sort of goings on" is neither illegal nor analogous with kiddy-fiddling.
I find myself unable to interpret this slogan in a way that isn't dirty. Maybe it's just my colonial ignorance showing ???
and their explanation is worse:
"Flag up with someone you trust if anything upsets you or if someone asks you to meet offline"
Can someone explain what "Flag up" means to a poor benighted yank?
As an equally poor benighted Brit, I can't help. To "flag it up" would mean to bring something (the "it") to wider attention. However, the usage in your quoted passage is clearly as an intransitive verb and I've never heard "flag up" used in that way.
So that's UK and US usage found wanting. Are there any other English speakers out there who can help us with this one? Is it Australian, or South African? Or is it perhaps just a cock up on the part of some party hack trying to adopt the patois of people half his age and just making himself look a complete prick instead?
Paris, coz it must mean something kinky *somewhere*.
