back to article Oz banker caught porn-surfing on live TV

An employee of Sydney's Macquarie Bank probably isn't in line for a fat payrise after he was caught on live TV closely analysing something a bit more scintillating than the Lucky Country's interest rates: According to net experts, at least one of the photos in question is Orlando Bloom's squeeze Miranda Kerr. Bad Porn Shui

porn shui - the art of an internet porn surfer to position him or herself in a manner that not only obscures the provocative computer screen from public view, but also gives the surfer the ability to detect any intrusive dangers immediately.

    Cynical moi?.... never

Erm this all smells of viral

Of course the Bank will do the PR spin about sacking him etc etc but lets face it the Banks name will be heavily publicised as will the network that let it happen

Fair play to all parties involved ... and how long will it be until this is used as another justification for the Great Electronic Barrier Reef

For the record I approve of this harmless fun style of advertising

I love how near the end he turns around and notices the cameras there. Would have been great if you had a little longer to see the look on his face when he realized what had happened.

    Looks like...

...someone sent him an email and he was opening the attachments one by one. Not really porn anyway is it? More sort of FHM level stuff really. I wouldn't sack him- I'd sooner sack the guy that sent him the email.

That would have been a good basis for claiming it wasn't his fault, if he hadn't carefully gone through them all and decided to view one full-screen for a better view.

"This image violates HR policies! I'd better check all the other attachments so I can make a full report..."

Imagine how much worse it would look if he was using a multi-touch to zoom in.

Is that what counts for porn nowadays?

I'm sure Paris could give you lot a better definition - it certainly doesn't include lingerie wearing pictures of models.

It seems to me that he was either pranked or dared by a co-worker as it was an email client he was loading the images off. Most likely he was sent them by someone who knew he was in full view of the camera.

(Btw, what the hell is it with TV news studio sets these days, anyway? What's with all the goddamn' monitors? Fox News in the States has a set that looks like Mission Control; this Australian channel's set kinda reminds me of the bridge of the Enterprise. Enough with the goddamn' walls of monitors, already. I'm not impressed.)

      Walls of monitors...

"this Australian channel's set kinda reminds me of the bridge of the Enterprise."

It was annoying, yes, but the anchor-girl more than made up for it.

As to those able to identify the person in the photos, I guess you'd be the ones watching in 1080p HD, huh?

      Agreed

Actually, agreed on that count. It seems quite odd to be able to view stuff, possibly secret, in the middle of a bank. On the other hand, sacking an entire floor might be a bit, harsh. Especially as some tit in management possibly agreed to the cameras in the first place.

      This is standard cross promotion

masquerading as news and is common practice in Oz

Most news programs downunder have such deals in place and every bulletin they will cross to their "finance expert" who proceeds to list the days stock market activity against a backdrop of prominent corporate logo's and "hard working bankers" doing "impressive banking stuff" on computers with screens covered in figures, charts and graphs.

Looking at Miranda Kerr's GQ photos is "porn-surfing"?

Has The Register received a defamation writ yet from Miranda Kerr for your implication that her photographs in GQ Magazine are "porn"? Will we see Mr Plod rushing to the newsagent to confiscate a few copies for use as evidence in prosecuting GQ?

What was the Ed doing other than casting an eye over the actionability of headlines? Taking a lead from a Macquarie banker?
