    This is a useful step forward. SimpleDB always seemed a barmy idea to me.

    Hmm...

    A quick look at the mathematics, am I correct in thinking a single instance will cost $800 per year or am I doing something wrong?

    I wouldn't mind outsourcing the database part of one application but the application certainly isn't worth that kind of money.
