back to article Penis pill spam: The hard figures

The economics of male enhancement pill spammers have been laid bare by security researcher Dmitry Samosseiko. Samosseiko, of Sophos, uncovered research that showed how Canadian pharmacy spam punting unlicensed prescription medicines including Viagra is largely the work of partnerka, the Russian affiliates of spam and malware …

    It's a front...

It's like that old scam where people send off for happy-butt toys, don't get their product, and are too ashamed to file a complaint or a lawsuit...

Here's how it works, folks. When you steal money, you have to launder it. What better way to launder massive amounts of mob money than to set up a massive distributed network of retailers for products that no one really buys? Sure, you have the poor sod or two that actually DOES buy this stuff, but most of the purchases are made by criminals offloading their stolen loot. They launder their money through this system, which keeps them honest, since who would want their mob boss publishing market data about how many penis pills you buy a month? The redistributed cash is then allocated through proper channels and no one is the wiser. You'd think someone would catch on...

    RE: It's a front...

I wouldn't be at all surprised -- I also have a feeling that the more esoteric SPAM may actually be coded messages of some kind, sent either to people or botnets, using the mass-mail to fool any traffic analysis.

    Doorway pages....

....stuffed with keywords don't manage to dominate Search Engine results, unless I've fallen through a wormhole and it's 1995 again.

On the other hand by "Search Engine", did you mean "Bing". If so fair enough.

The problem isn't the spammers - it's the folks who pay for what they punt that keeps the Ruskies at it. This is where making computers easy to use has got us.

Funny the article keeps calling them Canadian

Follow one of those emails and it will lead you somewhere like

    http://yrevevim.cn/index.php

.cn is not Canada. I think they all say they are Canadian because who would by Meds from China, etc.

And on that page at the botton is a (650) area code, that is California not Canada.

The site calls itself Canadian Pharmacy #1 Internet Online Drugstore?

At last, a solution to the spam problem

Simply set up an online pharmacy, send poison pills to anyone dumb enough to use it and "Presto!" the customer base for spammers naturally selects itself out of the gene pool.

FFS, people, the only things you know about these "pharmacies" is that they are run by untraceable people with a relaxed attitude to the law who live outside your legal jurisdiction. Based on that knowledge, you intend to consume whatever they send you in the expectation that it will be biologically active. !@$%"@!???

    An even simpler solution

Disconnect .ru from the international telco- and internet altogether. Let them back in, when they can tell us where the ex-spammers are buried.

    If only you knew...

... the russians spams with tens of millions of spams and thousands of dollars a month are the little fish.

The big fish are the old experienced spammers with USA passports and world-wide assets, operating through multiple-millions of infected home machines. Some of these 'russian' jobs are actually them in disguise.

The whole group of little fish get publicity for 16million spam.... a single big fish sent _billions_ of spam in that same month. Even more money flowing around from selling resources (other peoples infected computers, only 3c per minute) to the little fish these days. second-hand money saves the trouble of laundering.

** Bill 'cause he created the means to the end.

Another solution to the spam problem

The idiots who buy penis pills through this spam should be fucking shot. In their tiny penises. Publicly. On international TV. The reason we get this spam is because of these tinycock limpdick fuckers who respond to it.

    Joke

    @Steve Roper

To flip that on its head, the only reason we get spam is because all spammers have tiny penises and think that the rest of the world is as insecure about it as they are.

You read it here first, guys and gals- ALL SPAMMERS HAVE SMALL COCKS.

Now watch the rates of spam tumble...
