back to article AMD Bulldozer core to weave multiple threads

AMD's 'Bulldozer' core design will incorporate some kind of simultaneous multithreading (SMT) technology, it has emerged. But it's not going to be like Intel's HyperThreading the smaller chip maker has insisted. This week, AMD showed off its 'Magny Cours' chip architecture, a design that crams in six of the cores found on its …

    AMD?

Who are they? Don't recall ever hearing of them....

    Many Cores.

AMD is the company you have to thank for providing competition to Intel, otherwise we'd still be living in the processor dark ages using Pentiums running at 200MHz, paying £1000 for the privilege.

Also, either you're 9 years old or have a very short memory, but it wasn't that long ago that Intel were (albeit temporarily) playing catchup with AMD...

I hope they make a major comeback with this.

    AMD

AMD, the company that invented 64bit IA32. Remember, when Intel talked about "industry standard 64bit", Intel were still on planet Zog, where Itanium had a future.

AMD, the company that brought Quickpath to market (except AMD called it Hypertransport).

    Etc.

The NXXXXT Big Thing ...... Future Memory Circuits and ...

.... AIdDynamIQ Drivers for Powerful Current Liquidity .

The important parts of that report are the following two gems, which if I were Intel*, I would be XXXXStreamly worried about.

    1) AMD's 'Bulldozer' core design will incorporate some kind of simultaneous multithreading (SMT) technology, it has emerged. But it's not going to be like Intel's HyperThreading the smaller chip maker has insisted.

2)Either way, Bulldozer itself will deliver the ability to handle multiple threads simultaneously ...

    * And in this instance, the chip makers are very small fry as the Intel being baited and discussed by AMD, will be in the much bigger Fields of Fabrication which deliver Remote Cloud Control for ITs Virtualised Operating Systems which will Power for Real, Global Operating Devices for Command and Control Infrastructures.

No wonder Pat Conway "didn't say much more" for what is proposed is magnificently revolutionary and a priceless leap into the Future.

And it leaves HyperThreading in its present form, ["HT allows a second thread access to core resources that have not been called upon by the first thread."] dead in the water.

Bravo, AMD, and QuITe a Perfect Development for Advanced Technology Investment Companies into SCADA Virtualisation for Universal Control of Intellectual Property Powers? And if it is not, then now you know that it is, and the technology/methodology/driver algorithm is proprietary property of alien source and disposition.

And that is inside track information, El Reg, to support the Astute Coded Incisive Media Submission to Ms White, sent Sat 01/08/2009 10:16 and which generated a most unconvincing Out of Office AutoReply.

Hasn't any mentioned it in IT, burying heads in the sand is just so ....... Yesterday Man.

Ps It is easily checked is it not, with a simple phone call/email/VOIP request to ITs Key Players/SpokesPersons?

    @ACs 10:10, 10:52: Well said!

I also hope AMD succeed in putting a rocket up Intel. The wintel duopoly is bad news for every single one of us.

"Either way, Bulldozer itself will deliver the ability to handle multiple threads simultaneously"

Well sure, it's got 12 cores.

    Re: "Either way...."

Bulldozer is the core not the CPU. The CPU has 12 cores, not Bulldozer.
