Bwah.
Say what you like about those 4Chan kids, sometimes they're hella funny - if exceedingly cruel.
The simple, not-quite-offensive-but-a-bit-insulting ones were the funniest by far.
The denizens of notorious imageboard 4chan are up to mischief again with an attack on Christians over the weekend. Login details and passwords from an unnamed social networking or dating site for Christians* were posted as a file called "christian.txt" on 4chan. The information was spread among hackers, some of whom hit on the …
Why do you keep giving 4chan this undeserved attention?
You're just "feeding the trolls".
Fail, because "fapping" to weird Asian tentacle porn does NOT make you "1337", or a "h4xx0r", or anything else that might be considered cool.
Also, FAIL because people shouldn't re-use login credentials on multiple sites, ESPECIALLY banking sites.
I loved the part about "users use the same password on both sites."
Umm, yeah! It's facebook. Who really gives a toss? I'll share a couple of passwords around anything and keep a completely seperate password for my internet banking. If you manage to hack into my gmail, facebook and twitter all in the same night, you need to get a life.
It never ceases to amaze me how juvenile and immature people can be. Am I really that different? Even in my teenage years, I didn't badmouth or degrade people, I didn't spread rumors, and I didn't disseminate false information. I never thought it was "cool" or impressive to smoke, drink, or assault people physically or verbally. I DID play Wolfenstein 3D, DOOM, and pretty much all the other FPS games at the time. And yes, I even watched the Faces of Death tapes (though I'm pretty sure they would turn my stomach today), though I never assaulted any person or animal (just the occasional wall).
What is it that people get out of this? What's so amusing about lying about people or harassing them? Why do other people think it's amusing (or even acceptable)? What ever happened to "live and let live"? It seems to have gone the way of "agree to disagree", "the golden rule", and "personal responsibility". There's far too much animosity and hatred in this world, especially for no reason.
Actually the suicide one started out quite well, but instead of rolling with the 'no faith' angle (which drove all the godbotherers into a gibbering frenzy :) it kept pushing the 'suicide' button.
Some of the 'concerned' comments eerily echoed Bill Hicks: “Christianity has a built-in defense system: anything that questions a belief, no matter how logical the argument is, is the work of Satan by the very fact that it makes you question a belief. It's a very interesting defense mechanism and the only way to get by it -- and believe me, I was raised Southern Baptist -- is to take massive amounts of mushrooms, sit in a field, and just go, "Show me."”

Fake
its the DB dump from singles.org being reposted on /b/
-----
NOPE ITS FROM ANOTHER SITE - singles was a while ago and there have been some inbetween
and its actually pirated from another *chan and feed to 4chan, ironically that chan deleted the post. Helpful as always the choc factory had cached the list.
I find it funny that the internet is now old enough that Register readers are now the middle aged generation frowning on the antics of those pesky kids over on 4chan.
Don't worry, guys, in time the circle will turn and 4chan will become a respectable middle-aged site complaining about how those kids over at some other site are all taking things too far and how we never did that stuff in my day.
"Humanity = 1, People who believe in invisible man without scientific proof = 0
Machines require proof and evidence. Human's swim in that indefinable pool that involves emotions, beliefs, and feelings, alongside hard facts. It's what makes us human.
And no I'm not in any way religious myself, I'm just wise/cautious enough to think that just because I don't know FOR FACT that something is true doesn't mean it isn't.
The whole dolphin thing was somewhat scarey, but thats a whole other thread
I did expect more of 4chan - lots of newfag rubbish, the potential for lulz was huge. I smiled a lot but feel it could have been epic and ended up overall as a fail.
4/10 could try harder (though I did feel the need to shower after spending 4 hours on there)
I agree with you wholeheartedly on this one.
There's a big difference between, on the one hand, staging protests against the institution of Scientology on the grounds of morality, and on the other hand, logging into an individual's accounts and potentially sabotaging their personal relationships, 'for the lulz', purely on the basis of their choice to believe in some daft fairy stories.
I wonder how many of those who are posting on here about how funny this is are the self same folk that are up in arms at the merest mention of ID cards or national databases.
Regardless, if I were paying to advertise on El Reg I'd be negotiating a discount on the basis of the peurile kiddie readership that seems to be in evidence of late.
"its the DB dump from singles.org being reposted on /b/"
This is true.
"I'm going Anon, because, well, its 4chan...."
This is funny, and also true.
"Fail, because "fapping" to weird Asian tentacle porn does NOT make you "1337", or a "h4xx0r""
No, but it does make you a viewer of /h/, rather than /b/.
@ @know your source #
No, it IS from singles.org - I can guarantee you of that.
"The oxygen of publicity. #"
You've never been on 4chan/b/ have you? They don't do it for publicity. They do it "for teh lulz".
"It wasn't 4chan #"
This is by far the funniest comment on here. I know *exactly* what you are talking about too!
"Dental Hygiene? #"
Nah, it was a coment like "Im sorry, it can be ignored no longer. Sarah [or whoever], please go see a dentist". The picture was a portrait picture of a woman with a blackened tooth, top row, left middle one.
The christian raiding has been going on for about a week now by the way.
