back to article SCO sale blocked by court

A US judge has blocked SCO's attempt to sell off part of its business in order to fund its ongoing litigation, and appointed a Chapter 11 trustee to oversee the company's next moves. SCO was hoping to sell off some of its assets, in order to fund its court battle against IBM and Novell for claimed Linux licenses. For its part …

SCO helps launch F-18 Navy jets

Where's Lewis Page when we need him to make sense of this statement in the Memorandum accompanying Judge Gross's written judgement:

"Customers depending on SCO include McDonald's restaurants, many smaller companies and the U.S. Navy's ability to launch F-18 fighter jets"

Are they burning the manuals to raise steam for the catapults?

But since Judge Gross also quotes from Samuel Beckett's 'Waiting for Godot', this must be one American who understands irony.

don't buy that bozo a beer

The judge is almost clueless. SCO should have gone directly to chapter 7. The whole point of chapter 11 is there is some plan on the table to reconstruct the company. The judge ruled there is no plan, yet he still allows them to stay in chapter 11. The judge also disallowed as evidence emails from a SCO insider claiming there was no plan, yet now has the gall to appoint a trustee to see if there is a plan. The ruling makes no sense.

    @dougal83

    "What exactly IS SCO?"

SCO Group. A company that tried to claim ownership of (parts of) Linux and which seems to have lost. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCO_Group .

    WTF?

    AHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAAAaaaaaaaa

Stoppit, you're killing me! You seriously expect anyone to believe they'd sell off a viable, profit-making, successful part of the business in order to fund their desparate long-since lost cause of a legal case? AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAaa that's like a guy who's lost in the desert chopping off his leg to get something to eat ... how you gonna walk out of the desert now, dumbass?

And the best bit of it is it's all true and they really actually are that batshit gibbering insane and it's actual real life and not all just an episode of Fawlty Towers or something.

They don't need a "trustee". They need a nurse. And a nice new jacket with very long arms. And a cosy little room with nice soft walls to spend their time in.

Won't somebody think of the children?!

Keeping SCO alive artifically in order to extend the almightly kicking it asked for. 6 Years of brutality and the judge still won't let it die.

Funny thing is it's been great to watch....

Darl McBride, delusional and too busy to troll right now

One delightful side effect of the ruling is a total cessation of proSCO spamming on the interwebs, Yahoo,Groklaw,IV and god knows where else are currently 'clean'. Meanwhile, somewhere in Utah, Darl 'Skyline Cowboy with Snow Shoes' McBride is tied up crafting an appeal. Coincidence? We have reason to believe not...

Its well worth reading the BK court transcript, where Darl is shown to be believed delusional by his own employees! Nice to see some sanity breaking out inside SCO.

    Stop

    How much longer??!?!

...an this farce go on? They've (SCO) used up all their money, extra investors money, have been found not to own the rights to UNIX anyway and have always refused to reveal the infringing code... why the hell hasn't a judge just told them to sod off and wrapped the company up?!

It's obvious to everyone else there is NO business left. *le sigh*

    FAIL

SCO needs a merciful end....... NOT!!!

The worst thing the judge could do is to drive a silver stake through SCO's corporate heart. To do so would deprive the world of some amusement, as its CEO continues on a "fool's errand" mission to "save" the company.

But no, the judge wants to take more time, so this saga will continue.

The CEO of SCO needs to put himself in the position of the captain of the Titanic.

You have struck an iceberg; your hull is split open; water streaming in, and flooding the lower decks; and it is time to jump into the life raft.

Or you can be a fool, and GO DOWN WITH THE SHIP.

    Your choice.

    has no one considered

the whole of this was to feed the lawyers and the management before they had to give in, they

know that they will get no other CEO role after this, so they have to suck every pen they can out of it .
