back to article Whizz for Atoms: inside Intel's next netbook generation

Intel's Atom initiative may have proved successful so far, but the chip giant has done itself no favours by releasing two versions of the chip. Intel VT-x

    Are there any details as to which of these chips will support Intel VT-x?

    @TFk

    Good question.

    I don't believe they will. The original Atoms didn't, and since Pineview and Lincroft use what is essentially the same CPU core as before, it seems unlikely they will too. I've seen nothing to suggest otherwise.

    Stop

    One thing

    I heard that the N450 will have 64 bit support. Nothing in this fine article mentioned that. Why?

    @Hetz Ben Hamo

    Yes it did - look on the last page!

    "Like today's desktop Diamondville's, the Dx10 series will support 64-bit computing. Early indications... are that so too will the N450."

    Alert

    Intel VT-x

    Actually, the faster Z series Atoms are Intel VT enabled

    Annoyingly, none of the current Atom chips that have Intel-TV are 64 bit capable. I really hope they plan to change this in the future...
