    Lazy "reporters"

Why do reporters always seem make comparisons using different units?

Golly, this 26mm thick Asus is up against the inch thick Acer.

WTF? Why don't you do the conversion instead of forcing god knows how many thousands of you readers to do it for you?

Paris wouldn't even notice an inch thick one I'm sure

    What OS

Have they had the sense to offer Linux as an option again, or perhaps a machine w/out an OS ?

    Screen resolution?

Anyone know the screen res? 1024x600 like the other EeePCs, or something better like the Mac it's imitating?

    UK pricing

Amazon UK have it for £379 on pre-order, or you can go for Laptops Direct and pony up £399. Maybe you could have done some research in addition to kindly reprinting the press release from Asus.

    Why the Air comparison

Is it purely due to its thinness? Otherwise there are no similarities... one is a proper computer, the other is a Mac (boom boom!). Seriously though, they are completely different and aimed at different segments with completely different levels of capability...

Air is in the same group as the Voodoo Envy, Thinkpad X300 and Vaio TT or Z; this Eee is in with the S101 and NC10.

You have a story about (a) an Asus product (b) that's called "Seashell", and you don't use the photograph of the Asus Eee beach babe? What's wrong with you? This isn't The Register I know and love.

Calling your notebooks/netbooks this brings a whole new meaning to Demolition Man? Still can't quite work out how stalone would have used this.
