back to article Google pours Java on code cloud

Google has added the Java runtime to its App Engine, that (semi-)free service that lets you build and host web apps on Google's very own cloud distributed infrastructure. When App Engine was first introduced, almost a year ago to the day, it stuck with Python, a favorite among code-happy Google Oompa Loompas. But after …

Cooking with GasProMotions..... for the Power of Instant Consistent Heat Generation.

"Even when Google expands the new App Engine to world+dog, it will be free. Up to a point. Google charges when you exceed certain resource thresholds." ... Err, done right, Java makes Wealth and that might be as simple as Google realising the Programs/Programmers/Applications/Virtual Machines which are using their Search Engine and/or Algortithms to Beta Effect and Better than they Do/Can and it would therefore be in their Very Best Interests to Purchase their XXXXPertise..... for that would be a No Cost Non Competitive Internal Investment with Flash SMART Cash Card Credit Transfer to Proxy Champion Accounts .... their Own Team of Virtual Knights/Cash Cows/Golden Egg Laying GCHQeese.

The Spin in the Field is that MetaData Analysis of Web Search can Deliver such Sensitive Information Stealthily and Automatically but that might be just a Convenient Perception/Misperception peddled to Counter COIN and Insurgency and the Truth of the Matter is that IT has to be Pimped/Pumped/Primed/Provided from Novel Energising Code Sources for Guaranteed Capture of Head Quarters ..... Targeted Agents ..... Groomed Facilities.

A Simple Short Sharp Shock of a Pregnant Pause will deliver the Truth of that Matter to Advanced IntelAIgents into CyberIntelAIgent Control of Virtualised Spaces for Market Resources.

    Too late

Signed up an account, turned on the Java stuff, ran "hello world" locally, can't deploy.

Looks like they are limiting the number of fully deployed applications, rather than the number of Java-enabled accounts.

Still, very exciting. The main challenge in porting existing database-backed applications will likely be dealing with the limited relational capabilities of the data store (JPA subset).

Why would you want to use Java

Java peeps should grow up and learn real programming languages.
