Main continent, new content
Need lots of tumbleweed spawners on the main continent then.
Second Life has announced it will "geographically separate" adult content so it's accesible "only to those who ought to (and who desire to) access it". Linden Labs says it'll build the Sadville porn concentration camp, aka the "Adult Continent", over the next few months. It explains: The system we build will have three main …
I think their true intent is obvious. They talk about giving people the ability to control what type of content they see, but clearly requiring credit card payments has nothing whatever to do with that goal.
I can't say I'm surprised though. SL had the kind freedom that only exists on a frontier. Like the "Wild West" it has now been settled and ceased to be a frontier. Here comes the long arm of the law. "Protecting" the children is probably only the first step.
One continent of furries, flying penises etc. and anyone who actually enjoys second life.
The old continent for the hundred or so misguided, overenthusiastic academics who want to be down with the kids and give their lectures using these cool new web 2.0 thingys (while actually sitting comfortably in their office drinking tea).
I thought the "flagging" option has been there since at least 2006. I don't see why geographical separation is necessary. If anything, those who don't want to see "adult" content should be able to put some option for that, and SL would automatically lock them out from the "Mature" areas.
Meh.
to those that choose not to see it. If you want to see adult content, you will be able to see all the contents, both regular and adult. If you don't, all the adult portions everywhere should be 'erased'.
Ok, I am thinking 'autocad frozen layers' of sorts.
( It avoids geographical separation, and creates some technical problems, perhaps? )
