    Jobs not completely gone

    Just severely reduced. Just got picked up by an outsider to work for Microsoft (posting as AC because of the NDA), at what I'm sure is a greatly reduced salary from what the poor sap whose job I stole got payed.

    To think they could probably save 40% of contractor billing if they stopped using over-priced, incompetent staffing agencies whose only quality is that they rely 100% on matching requirement and CV keywords rather than understanding the businesses they recruit for.

    Not really a surprise

    I think a number of companies are doing similar things and trimming contractors first - after all it means they don't have to pay out redundancy payments and it saves them the cost of re-hiring again when(?) the market picks up.
