back to article Boy George jailed for 15 months over bizarre false imprisonment

Boy George was jailed for 15 months on Friday following his conviction for falsely imprisoning a male escort in his flat. The flamboyant former Culture Club frontman (real name George O'Dowd) claimed he handcuffed his victim, Audun Carlsen, to a wall in a bid to retrieve stolen photos from a laptop. Carlsen and O'Dowd hooked …

    Jail? He'll love it!

He'll probably end up sharing a cell with a bloke called 'Susan' who will be bored senseless with how often George *accidentally* drops the soap in the shower.

Must admit, I'm disappointed at the lack of "Goes Down" in the title.

Paris: Because she'd definitely go down as well.

    Slow Week Was it?

I'm really struggling here, but where's the IT angle? FFS.

I really couldn't care less about this cross dressing moron. If I want to read about celbutards then I'll wander over to Auntie and read it there...which looks like that's what you did. Easy money - thought provoking and insightful journalism. NOT.

Wake up and let's have some decent articles with at least some vague IT interest.

What did Mr. Carlsen say to Boy George?

...do you really want to hurt me, do you

really want to make me cry?

    It Angle?

It mentions a laptop and a social notworking site. What more do you want? What's more, it's Friday. One must always lower one's expectations of journalism on a Friday evening. Haven't you seen the pubs around Vulture Central on Friday lunchtime?

    False imprisonment?

So if he had stolen the photos then Boy George would be allowed to kidnap him? Is that really a charge? Shouldn't it be kidnapping and assult?

    @ Slow Week AC

in a bid to retrieve stolen photos from a laptop... hooked up via a gay social-networking site....

@ Anon Cow: Slow Week Was it?

In case you've been living in a cave and haven't figured it out yet, El Reg does not exclusively report on IT news.

You couldn't care less about Boy George. I'd congratulate you, but you apparently care enough to expend the time and effort to write a comment about how little you care. Let's not lose sight of the fact that YOU clicked on the link for a story entitled "Boy George jailed for 15 months over bizarre false imprisonment". No one forced you to click on said link, and read said story, so what, exactly, are you moaning about??

Regarding "some decent articles with at least some vague IT interest", please see the rest of the bloody website.

    @Slow Week Was it?

Well, given that they met on a gay-social networking site (I'm pretty sure it was gaydar - I love how they refer to it as a social networking site, most of the people on there are whores!) I'd say there's a good IT angle!

And "NOT"? You either learnt humour in the early 1990s from Harry Enfield, or more recently from the Borat movie. Either way you're most certainly a tit.

    *Everything I Own

#You sheltered me from harm, kept me warm, kept me warm

You gave my life to me, set me free, set me free

The finest years I ever knew, were all the years I had with you

I would give *anything I own, give up my life, my heart, my home

I would give *anything I own, just to have you back again#

For the purpose of the Jury, *'anything' (everything) means 'excluding photos on my laptop'.

    That's not Boy George...

I'm pretty sure it's Darth Vader without the mask.

The victim was probably a Bothan spy, and the "photos" were plans for a space station.

    Damn those Rebel Scum...

    Brilliant

For the commenter that wonders what the IT angle is..

We don't need one, this is the kind of stuff that has Register written all over it and as such readers such as myself demand more not less.

We want the stories about gay flamingos stealing babies from each other. We want the patent schematics of DARPA first responder circus cannons and most of all we want to hear about things that you just couldn't make up.

Brilliant.. this is exactly why I go to this website.

    An XKCD moment...

"O'Dowd, 47, invited Carlsen back to the flat two weeks later only to tie him down, with the assistance of a second man, and beat him."

When I read this, I immediately thought: "Beat him at what - Chess? Quake 1v1? Charades?"

    @Brent Gardner

Shouldn't it be kidnapping and assult.

U'm that's what I was thinking. So what rise to the level of kidnapping ?? I would think he would be looking at 10 -20. Oh wait he didnt hack into a computer or steal money so no biggie .

    Surely though,

shouldn't this story be in the odds and sods section?

    Stop

    @BARRY

Nice use of lyrics there Barry, but you missed the much more obvious, from Karma Chameleon

    "I'm a man without conviction"

...not any more you ain't mate.

Reminds me of when he was last done for fighting outside a nightclub. Bet that wasn't the first time he'd raised his fists in anger...

    Social networking or just sex

"a gay social-networking site" - is that what Gaydar is called these days? It always was (and to be honest, still continues to look like) a "pick-up-a-shag" site. "Social networking"? Pah!

Did George play any Culture Club

during the whole time? If so we need to add torture to the list of offences.

  22. ElFatbob

    yawn..

So an 80's has-been goes to jail because *shock* he's not above the law.
