what would you expect him to say?

Anyone who's taken "Vendor Management US style 101" knows you always make comments like this when something major happens with one of your key vendors - it keeps em on their toes and lets them know who's boss.

This is like reporting "customers want better IT for less" - stating the bleeding obvious

could have held on to it.

GM owned EDS for a stretch there back when government contracting appeared to be a license to print money, didn't it?

    Blimey

GM were in the economic crapper before HP got their hands on EDS. With them on board it'll be like the captain of the Titanic deciding to take another swing at the iceberg because they didn't quite hit it last time.

    HP! Crap, no no no!

I can't blame 'em really. HP has decent enough gear, but their service has been mediocre at best in the past. Also, they are the definition of standard when it comes to performance and capabilities. They have all the check marks, but when you really look at the features closely you see they really don't cut it, or work for that matter. HP will try to push their mistake hardware (SuperDumb anybody?) on GM and tell them that they can support their junk better than they can support the other guys stuff (like Solaris or AIX).
