Get it whilst the pounds worthless
Tourists will be bringing FTSE 250 companies home as a souvenir if this goes on much longer!
Avnet, the American technical component distributor, has come in at the 11th hour to outbid an existing offer for Premier Farnell, distributors of the Raspberry Pi. Farnell was all set to be sold to Swiss group Dätwyler Holding for £792m, including debt, but a new offer from Avnet with an enterprise value of £868m has now been …
With regard to the banner photo, it should probably be pointed out that Farnell don't actually sell Zero's. Those are manufactured by the Foundation themselves at the plant in Wales and sold through their other distributors (Pi Hut, Pimoroni etc) rather than the bulk sellers like Farnell and RS. Those only manufacture and sell the "large" Pi's (B+, 2 and 3), for a relative value of large anyway.
"Hat's" is illustrative of the fact that one doesn't correctly employ an apostrophe when attempting to form a plural from a noun.
"Muphry's Law" is something you can investigate yourself... you have an internet connection I presume. Altogether less crude yet more pithy than your effort.
The farnell group, who can be used more or less inter-chanagably at least from within UK universities includes:
Who sometimes still manage to compete with each other on price! None the less they have same back end systems. I'm not sure quite to what extent they'll technically the same company - it's complex I know that.
@theModge "Who sometimes still manage to compete with each other on price!"
Look up Price Discrimination. The microeconomic process of charging different prices for the same product to different customers. For those that can afford it, charge more. For those that are looking for a good deal, charge less. The end result is more items sold which increases turnover which is good from a business perspective.
"'The enhanced offerings brought about by a combination of the two businesses,' the announcement continues, 'is expected to generate revenue synergies from cross-selling and line-fill effects, as well as utilizing the strength of the Combined Group's procurement positions.' While it is difficult to understand what this means, we parse it as an expression of enthusiasm for the deal."
It isn't difficult to understand at all. It means "We spouted some idiotic biz-speak flannel about 'synergies' because that sounds more noble and high-minded than just saying 'We get more cash for ourselves and that's what matters'."
