cost cutting
At least dell will save some cash not having to have so many senior execs.
At some point you have to say this is starting to look like a rout. VMware EVP Bill Fathers is taking a hike, no longer content to be general manager of the cloud services business unit. Father's responsibilities will be shared between two cloud co-general managers, Allwyn Sequeira and Laura Ortman, who will report to VMware …
Obviously, there are always reasons for exec departures and the impending Dell deal could be a large factor here. There are myriad other reasons as well, but this is a large number of execs jumping ship at a very critical time for VMware's survival. Personally, I wouldn't want to be associated with a cloud that is an industry joke either. If the state of cloud today is represented by a large number of advanced services like those in AWS, Azure, Google, IBM and Rackspace, then VMware's cloud is a tricycle in a Formula One race. The latest departure apparently just got tired of peddling when the cool kids have actual race cars.
