Just think, UK could have been king of the drone market, but instead they made a bunch of micro regulations to limit any freedom in that. And the police screamed drones = thieves.

Autonomous cars will be next, a bunch of hysterical people will scream murder at the first minor accident and a lot of regulation will follow that kills all the potential in that market (for the UK at least).

Or perhaps the spooks and police will demand mass surveillance be attached to cars so they can monitor them... for our safety so nobody wants them.

Welcome to UK, Cameron has failed, he's made the state more Nanny than ever before.

More likely is that the first minor bump will reveal that the fleshy meatbag was driving to fast or on their mobile. The self-driving cars will obey the road rules and auto-clype any fleshy's actions which contravene regulations. This could have a major impact on road safety once we realise we have to stick to our own rules. I for one welcome our zealous rule militating driving overlords!
