Seven figure outlays on big branded kit and an eighteen month exercise building The One True Schema or a slow start and five figures to your cloud provider of choice with no lock in. Poor old Teradata. Is there any way for them to change that perception in today's market?

      Meh

Worse still, you need real Teradata types on staff to look after / extend what you originally built. That's a minimum of two FTEs on your payroll to ensure continuity. The alternative is spending seven figures on something that looks more and more like a bog standard disk array as time goes on.

So that's both the CAPEX and OPEX side off into the stratosphere.....

        Skilled staff are a requirement?!?!?!

OMG! You mean to say in order to do a good job you need skilled, qualified staff that can do the job required of them??? Heaven forbid you don't just throw your data warehouse out to some dirt cheap off-shoring outfit and then spend the next 5 years wondering why your data warehouse is more like a "data out-house" and your competitors (that have spent money on the appropriate staff) are using theirs to much greater effect.

Not having skilled staff yet still expecting a good computer system ... I must remember that one
