Yuri definitely knows something the other two do not

His Non-Smile is on par only with German Titov (the real, non-retouched photos).

It seems the Russians take this kind of thing very seriously, if you saw yesterday's Horizon.

      Icon, well, because.

He has the same look on his face as I do after having been forced to waste hours spent time in meetings reporting to our leadership things that could have easily been summarized in a five minute email.

Yuri Gagarin was always grinning though. It's pretty hard to find a photo of him looking serious, so it's not all cosmonauts who look grumpy.

"Yuri Gagarin was always grinning though"

He came back in one piece and was then a national hero who had to be kept away from anything too high risk. So yes, a lot to grin about.

      Re: "Permission to relieve bladder."

A custom since Gagarin did it, cosmonauts (and guests) about to launch in a Soyuz pee on the tire of the bus that brings them to the launch pad, presumably for good luck.... and to prevent damp on launch.

Not the 1st Brit in Space or on the ISS

At last. Finally. Finally, Finally. An article that doesn't repeat the utterly incorrect: "Tim Peake will be the first British Astronaut in [Space|ISS]".

Well done El Reg for accurate reporting in the face of Establishment and Mainstream Media hooraying propaganda.
