    Now all we need is one Al-Qaeda operative to slip into that cloud and royally screw up everything !! How many more lies are these US military idiots expect us to believe ?? From pin-point laser-guided bombs that bombed the Chinese embassy miles away to military hunter-killer robots that turn on their handlers !!

    Of course, HP is happy !! The DoD is giving them what is in effect a blank cheque !!

    QuITe Obviously, HP are bluffing their way in the Cloud/Virtualisation Environment and that is evidenced by the fact that they would offer ITs Services for a Military Presence in what is an Intellectual Space which recognises that Force is neither Power nor Control.

    And one can fully expect, and it may very well already be the case, that the Cloud and Cloud Formations are a ControlLed Environment, quite obvously not led by the Military Mindset which is grounded to scorched earth provision in order to be "effective", making them something of a pariah oxymoron.

    Of course, the DoD can always sue HP for wanton misrepresentation whenever the folly is more apparent to them.

    If it can be hacked or cracked

    It will be. The much vaunted and very expensive Clansman system during the cold war was, in a tactical environment, useless. For minute by minute comms on excercises in Europe we relied on runners with bits of edible paper or good memories. It is just the same now, in a major war situation the enemy would spend anything it could to hack such a system. The Germans owed much of their downfall in WW II to their belief in the infallibility of the Enigma code machine, they were were sitting around laughing about their uncrackable codes whilst the allies were sitting around laughing about having cracked it. Never make the mistake of thinking you are smarter than your enemy. How many geeks out there will regard this as a challenge? Any time you use a radio link you are shouting out your position to any one that wants to find you, each time you use radar unless it is passive you are inviting an interesting piece of ordenance to join you. this sounds like a gravy train for developers and more useless crap for squaddies to lug around.

    HP spies on U.S. Citizens and....

    Wow, people running HP get caught spying on U.S. citizens illegally and a few years later the DoD trusts them with national, heck, international security? HP, the company that sold dud SCSI burners, got sued successfully in the U.S. and then told my buddy he is Canadian and the suit was U.S. and he would have to do his own law suit in Canada? HP whom sold a multipage feeding laser printer (the 1100) and instead of recall they mailed out a pad? HP, whom advertised invent when they never invented Ink Jet, Digital Cam, etc. How is printing a digital photo inventing anything? HP whom will buy up a U.S. based company and then offshore as much of it out of the U.S. as possible?

    Wow, that is just down right scarey to me.
