    That's huge

    >We understand Dell shipped 3.6 petabytes of data, more than NetApp, IBM and Hitachi combined (3.05 PBs).

3.6PB? That's like what, eight Storinators. With Drives, a total of $360,000 plus shipping. For the whole quarter. I am pretty sure Netflix and Backblaze each add more storage than that in a month.

Did the author lose some digits somewhere? Is this just for London?

      Re: That's huge

We shipped close to a PB of HDS to a single customer last quarter. (400TB of G400 10K, and a 500TB of HUS 150 NL). There is no way that my small shop accounts for a double digit percentage of HDS's shipped disk last quarter.

Should be 3.6PB per day ...

    Gartner

This is Gartner, so assume it was compiled by the intern who went to extra maths classes.

Seriously, a statistical tie is when it's within 1%? This is more numerate than most journos can manage, but as they say at the mollusc alcoholics anonymous, that is a low bar.

    SDS

So does the increase in server based storage indicate that SDS and VSAN are starting to take market share from the traditional storage vendors
