      TO be fair the article did mention one of the main devices - and also mentioned that the rest are likely devices that have been sat in a home or small office for many years, just doing their job, needing* no attention.

    Akamai recommends...users to upgrade to RIP version two.

    Based on the rest of the information in the article, it sounds like most of the users who have these devices have little say in the matter. They are at the mercy of their broadband overlords.
