back to article ROBOTS in sinister public-relations push ahead of coming WAR ON HUMANS

DARPA's robotics challenge concluded this weekend and $3.5m has been apportioned between the three best-performing teams. Robots that competed in the event were scored on how many of the eight tasks they managed to complete, with the amount of time taken to complete those tasks used as a tiebreaker. 23 teams participated in …

Where was the test site? Hatton Garden?

"drive a car to the test site, open a door, cross rubble, go up some stairs, cut through a wall, open an industrial rotary valve, and perform a mystery task"

Though they appear to have missed "Abseil down lift shaft" off the list.

    The DARPA tests worry me

    Driving cars

    Opening doors

    Crossing rubble

All of these are key requirements for a Terminator; if the next round of test includes "using firearms" or "riding motorcycles" then it's time to head for the hills and start stockpiling weapons...

    "tincandroids"

    +1 for that.

A fascinating area which shows how far we have come, yet how far we still have to go!

The BBC has a little "fail" compilation here.

Unplug and plug it in again?

If robots can unplug power cords and plug them in again my tech support business is in trouble.

Can someone help me on with this Tin Man suit?

    I'm seriously impressed.

I wasn't expecting an untethered autonomous robot to be able to do all that - and so quickly! Congratulations to the humans who built the robots.

Lazy stinking robots. Just sitting around running off the free government electricity. They should all cut their nonexistent hair, polish themselves up, and get a damn job.
