back to article IBM and Ericsson plot to deploy 5G. Never mind that it doesn't exist

Ericsson and IBM have announced a collaboration to jointly research phased-array antenna designs for 5G, which might prove interesting as nothing has yet been agreed on what 5G might involve. Crucially for this work, nobody's yet decided what frequencies 5G will operate on – although Ericsson has previously said it’s looking …

While we wait for 5G, how about some REAL 4G?! Hmm?

"4G" is abused rhetoric for high end 3G. There is NO REAL 4G available on the planet right now. Why that is the case is beyond my comprehension. But that is the state of affairs. It's a finished protocol with available hardware for deployment, but NOBODY bothers. Instead we're stuck with this foisted fake term called "4G" (and hilariously, even "4.5G") that is NOT 4G. It's just an 'approved' marketing term for improved 3G. Only a marketing moron could make sense of this state of affairs.

If you'd like to learn what REAL 4G is supposed to be all about, below are a couple resources. Watch for the term 'LTE Advanced':
