back to article Japanese woman moves into bloke's closet

A Japanese woman has been cuffed for "sneaking into a man's house and living in his closet without him knowing", the AP reports. The 57-year-old owner became suspicious after food went missing from the fridge, and he duly installed a surveillance set-up which caught the domestic stowaway wandering his gaff while he was out. …

    Well there are

120 million people in Japan, and it's not a big place either... lots of mountains in the way.

    So that's what happens

When you come out of the closet in Japan, they arrest you.

    So much for equal rights..

She was 58 all right, but the actual resident was 57. Kind of "in the age" you know.

Though I'd wonder if the bloke couldn't just offer her the space anyway. Oh well, at least it seems she'll live in "Bar Hotel" for a while...

Maybe the guy was IN the closet himself and not interested in the services the GILF may have had to offer, hence the police and arrest.

    Finally, proof!

Finally, we have real proof that a surveilance society actually works!

We should forward this to our beloved dictators and they can suggest to their pork barrel friends^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H choice private sector corporates that cameras should be installed in all homes and, for the good of the individual, monitored by the state. Or at least monitored by a foreign company sucking the tax payer dry on behalf of the state anyway.

    @Almost all of you...

I have to say I'm getting fed up with the low level misogyny on these threads. It seems any time there's mention of a woman some retard pipes in with some 'joke' about fucking them or them being some kind of whore, or them being to ugly to consider fucking - it's juvenile and does nothing to dispel the public perception of computer geeks as emotionally stunted oddballs.

Let's be clear here, she was hiding in his bedroom closet and you don't think rude jokes are appropriate?

Woman hides in man's bedroom, nothing funny to be seen move along?

This is Britain. Home of The Two Ronnies. They would have had a field day over this kind of story and probably did except theirs was invented for the show.

public perception of computer geeks as emotionally stunted oddballs.

The low level misogyny is a consequence of people - OK, boys - not being personally identifiable and working in an industry where they are usually support service, and not core to the business. They have to show respect for others in real life so when they come here they get to act as if they don't.

Roger lets himself down by using the tem "retard" - don't criticise sexism and then perpetuate disablism.

I don't know whether you've noticed, but pretty much NO MATTER what a story relates to on this site, several people will post various anecdotes and/or jokes of varying levels of amusement.

Were you forced to make your comment by your wife sitting behind you?

    Stop

    Computer geeks?

Yeesss, this is something only computer geeks do. If you wander around a garage workshop or building site you'll notice a complete absence of sexist banter ... and certainly no pin-up calendars.

BTW there's a difference between making jokes which are subjectively disrespectful towards women, and actually hating women. Usually only extreme feminists get the two confused (you know, the kind who say all men are "potential rapists").

Oddly enough those people are the only true sexists I've ever encountered.

    I wish...

...a woman would come and live in my wardrobe! Hell I'd settle for them living in the shed or in the loft!

Perhaps I'd come home to find the place mysteriously tidied up and the washing up done. I'd leave hints on post-its around the house - "Mr/Mrs poltergeist, please mow my lawn."

@Roger Heathcote - I think I'd rather be an emotionally stunted odd-ball than be you sir. No matter how old and dull you get, you should always retain a modicum of SENSE OF HUMOUR and more importantly just chill-ax! Kick off yer shoes, wear a bermuda shirt, go to a park and play ultimate frizbee with some kids, anything to avoid that coronary at 35.

    Some People!

Some people here obviously have no knowledge of females if they think that living with one automatically guarantees getting the place tidy and clean. I speak from experience.

The only things females have in common are the obvious body differences, with whatever advantages and disadvantages that entails.
