back to article Back-to-school Patch Tuesday: Critical updates for Internet Explorer, Adobe Reader

Microsoft is planning a light edition of Patch Tuesday for September with just four bulletins, only one of which covers critical vulnerabilities. But an upcoming Adobe critical update for its Reader software around the same time means sysadmins are still likely to have their hands full next Tuesday. The sole critical update …

    Internet Exploder

With the amount of patches, IE is now the most secure* browser from Microsoft!

Pretty sure he did - I don't think he'd have been able to resist finishing with:

          "[INSERT MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY HERE] FAIL"

          ... for this long.

This is like Android but for el Reg's forums - there's a gap in the market (thanks to Eadon's "departure"), and Google have come up with something to fill it...

Of course Chrome and Firefox don't patch, they "update" theirs

I see a few people disagree - ok, what is their most secure browser, then?

    Adobe

Adobe Reader seems to install critical updates pretty much every day.

      Re: Adobe

It has to. It's the Adobe circle of unlife

Every day it installs some new and unwanted search bar (as part of a critical update process) despite everyone unchanging the box and every day everyone uninstalls it. The next day when you system checks for updates it realises you are missing this vital piece of technology and duly reinstalls it for you.

    Security

I just tried to inform my family about privacy and not using passwords on multiple sites and was told I was a paranoid fool.

    I give up.

    FAIL

    I wonder......

....how many bugs there will be in this month's release?!?!

    Sorry... what's that you say?

Adobe Reader I understand - I occasionally have to fall back to it when I'm not using Okular.

But, what's that other thing? I've never heard of it.
