Governments consisting of parties who are controlled by funding committees bought by donors ? Donors want uncontrolled access to public trough. So staff cuts are pushed by doctrinaire free market fanatics and the simple minded, destroying public services as a career option for skilled staff employed to have the common welfare/good in mind. So of course no department has skilled purchasing staff to ask the essential questions And the more I hear about the private sector purchasing greed the more I think that the plundering of the public purse by the ruling elites has become so normalised that too many of the citizenry wish to join in. Having a central purchasing agency that pays appropriately skilled and suitably cynical staff might cost a bit, but save millions. Heretical thought.
Rot. The public sector never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity. It's staffed by incompetent, bumbling mumblers who wouldn't last out in the real world, in a real job, spending a real budget made of actual money. As they're in trades-union protected jobs-for-life, they can piss away tax-payers' cash like there's no fecking tomorrow, and nothing will come of it. They are unanswerable, unelected and undeniably under-equipped in the balls and brains departments, both.

Trolling or medication not working? Your comments might apply to some top echelons, but not the vast majority of coal face staff. Found more bureaucracy in private companies. Whats connection between politicians and the public service which only gets kicks from each change of government ?
