The "Socialist DRAM" : 5 years late, cost a fortune, prone to fail. :-)

      Socialist DRAM

Consumes vast amounts of power, is slow, and forgets the last 10 years.

Do you mean the chips or Neelie?

    GEC

(remember them ?) Didn't they shut down the only UK chip factory in the 90s ?

They did ... I used to work there. They richly deserved to go bust !!

Their Swindon FAB is now a cowshed!!

NXP in Stockport I think is the last one going but they are on something like a 120-90nm process node.

Airbus of chips ... I'd vote for a flight of frites over a RAM (filled) jet any day.

    Unexpected Developments Expected

This is great news! Economic development brought to you by the same people who think GDP is a useful metric.

The wonderful thing about EU Development is that you have a committee comprising of representatives from all the 28 member states allowing for a wide range of input, so wide in fact that definitive decisions are rarely made, if they are then they rarely make any sense in the real world.

So it is good to send a representative in order to be seen to be ab active member just don't pay any attention to them when they return form such meetings.

EU industrial policy?? What could possibly go wrong??!!

While they are throwing around annoying acronyms like "IoT", I would humbly suggest CAP for "circuit autonomy program" as the project name for this valuable, in-no-way-destined-to-be-clusterf**ked venture.

Maybe they can celebrate IoT Airbus' creation with a "GoT"-style merger party. "Don't mind those guys with the crossbows, they are just the band. Here, let me pour you a nice goblet of wine."

    Well, that's me convinced then.

Maybe they should first know what they are selling and how the market will look like before they go down the road of pumping out "stuff".

"Tintin au Congo" comes to mind, now retitled to "Tintin en EU"

Give us you money and we'll promise to build great things and pay it all back!

Actually, we'll need a little more money. How about topping it up again, it would be a waste if all that investment were for naught. How about you pay for the interest / inflation / ... that would otherwise ruin us? Well, never mind, thanks for all the money.

Some industries really specialize in that kind of graft and some politicians like to play along. Maybe there is some kind of kickback involved?

    European IoT.

The collection and use of all of the interconnected devices data will lead to confusion in gov.

This is an example of the Internet Data Industry of Things.

    ie: IDIOT!
