The "Socialist DRAM" : 5 years late, cost a fortune, prone to fail. :-)
Plans for an “Airbus of chips” – aimed at doubling the number of processors made across Europe by 2020 – will be unveiled next month. A group of 11 tech sector chiefs commissioned by the EU will publish a detailed roadmap designed to expand the block’s manufacturing between 2020 and 2025. The goal is for European technology …
The wonderful thing about EU Development is that you have a committee comprising of representatives from all the 28 member states allowing for a wide range of input, so wide in fact that definitive decisions are rarely made, if they are then they rarely make any sense in the real world.
So it is good to send a representative in order to be seen to be ab active member just don't pay any attention to them when they return form such meetings.
While they are throwing around annoying acronyms like "IoT", I would humbly suggest CAP for "circuit autonomy program" as the project name for this valuable, in-no-way-destined-to-be-clusterf**ked venture.
Maybe they can celebrate IoT Airbus' creation with a "GoT"-style merger party. "Don't mind those guys with the crossbows, they are just the band. Here, let me pour you a nice goblet of wine."
Actually, we'll need a little more money. How about topping it up again, it would be a waste if all that investment were for naught. How about you pay for the interest / inflation / ... that would otherwise ruin us? Well, never mind, thanks for all the money.
Some industries really specialize in that kind of graft and some politicians like to play along. Maybe there is some kind of kickback involved?
