If you want to cross subsidize rural users by city users, then put a tax on city users and a subsidy on rural users. Then let the competition begin.
The NBN wants to government money to prevent TPG from being able to supply fast broadband to people while the NBN pisses about. And then it will have no money left for those that really need infrastructure, those that are still languishing on 56K.
So hopefully this will not go ahead.
My sentiments exactly. It wasn't until the very last paragraph where the region being discussed was revealed, and only then indirectly; by mentioning the "Australian Competition and Consumer Commission".
Okay, an informed reader might have worked it out from the mention of Telstra, but even that only came up in the fifth paragraph.
Geez Malcolm why did you have to go and screw everything up, why didn't you just leave the NBN as is, with some tweaking to get the roll out going along quicker.
After all the whole idea of the NBN wasn't wholly and solely FTTP, it was ONE infrastructure giving the same level playing field to all Service Providers and they just bundle their own speeds and data allowances.
So this BS we are now seeing wouldn't happen and we wouldn't still be seeing stories about Telstra being dragged into the courts to play fair.
The next time they print the Oxford dictionary, they really need a photo of Abbott and Turnbull together under the description for moron.
