    CD... in DOS/CMD ect

    What ever happened to CD...?

    I used to use it and it has disappeared.

    Now I get "The system cannot find the path specified."

    So where did CD... go

      As in go to the grandparent directory? IIRC that was a 4DOS extension, it never made it into MS-DOS, DR-DOS or CMD. If it's really that important to you it's open source these days although it appears to be dormant. Personally I don't think the savings over a ../.. are enough to be worth a third party shell, although the other extensions may be - 4DOS batch files are infinitely more capable than their CMD equivalents, it's almost approaching Unix shells in terms of capability.

    The error you're getting is what you get if your syntax is wrong or the path doesn't exist.

      No that is CD\

      That is supported as it CD.. but not CD...

      I used to use it a lot CD... up two, CD.... up three

      It was great

        Ah apologies, I thought your use of ... was intended as an open ended ellipsis as part of your question, rather than part of the CD command.

        To be honest I've never heard of or seen "CD ..." what was the last version your remember using it in?

    Nope it was DR-DOS and certain versions (or predecessors) of unix.

    To go up two directories in MS-DOS shells:

    cd ..\..

    Or universally in unix or Linux:

    cd ../..
