Team Register = unpaid lowly interns.
Since, as we all know, interns are not allowed to speak unless spoken to, receive recognition or praise for anything, and above all no respectable journalist would put their name to any article written by a lowly intern, El Reg uses the name "Team Register" when an intern figures out a way to post an article.
I can only assume the "Team" part is to keep the interns in line by feeling like they are part of El Reg, even though their part of "Team Register" is to go get coffee every morning for the actual paid employees of El Reg.

I always assumed El Reg was an "infinite monkeys with typewriters in the backroom" kind of place with a randomiser as front-end. I never thought people getting paid played any part.
