      buy low, sell high?

      buy low ,sell high?

surely that's the whole point of the market?

It is perhaps why insider information is so toxic to the free market idea, and why regulation is a good thing (tm).

The cost of anything is by definition, what someone will pay for it.

A "market" is not a zero-sum game. The whole point of a market is that EVERYONE is better off.

Is the stockmarket a zero-sum game? It is difficult to decide with all the new money from nowhere rushes into it from everywhere. Maybe it is just a way to get a piece of the pie. Of course, the stockmarket in its current form turns to frank buccaneering when the raging exponential collapses, so you better get out early.

The stock market is not zero-sum. There are a few reasons for this:

          1) Companies pay dividends to investors (at least some do) this means there is a gradual flow of money into the investors.

          2) Investors are able to sit out of the market. Therefore you get flows of money in and out of the market as people either move into other markets, or move into cash.

Well maybe she meant to say, "For every stock market winner, there are many, many losers."

They only hit the small enough to jail crowd

Steal 400K and it is jail time and millions in fines.

Steal millions - pay a small fine and do not admit to wrong doing.

What Insulting Tiddler Theatre. What about the freaking banksters?

Inside trading would be the least that they are guilty of, LIBOR Rigging, Commodities Pricing Fraud (for T.P.T.B.), Morgage Fraud, Derivatives Fraud etc.; outright fraud and extortion as a business model, more like! They are the big mafia fish, which government criminally give our taxes to rather than force them to face the consequences (jail included) of their fraud; moral hazard to fracking infinity!

He should have been a banker!

Well nice to know everything is equal in this world.....just some people (bankers) are more equal than others when it comes to fiddling the finances for a nice profit and no jail time.
