Here is a function at which there will be women [dressed as] hookers, and one at which, despite being in the tech world, a 50% ratio of sexes is at least promised (I've never seen more than 20% women at a work function myself, and dressed frumpy), and all you can think about is beer!
If you just want beer, why not stay at home with a few cans of it; buy it from the taxi fare you save.
... I can tell you that probably 80% of the women wearing costumes were dressed in short-mini skirt/fishnet french-maid style costumes. Also, quite a lot of the people riding in critical mass were wearing the same thing.
Interestingly enough, not a lot of guys were in costumes, most did in fact looking 'hacker' although perhaps more 'hipster hacker' than strictly 'hacker'. Did see a few cowboys & 'blue men', but I live close to the Castro so perhaps the Indian, policeman and construction guys were close by (as they are often on weekend nights...).
I'm not sure what it says, but I would suggest that Hacker Hideout is just riding a meme and failing at a joke...
