back to article Boris Johnson's ex-right-hand man's right hand lands johnson in web slip

London Mayor Boris Johnson's former deputy has been left red-faced after a series of selfies revealing his chap found their way onto Facebook. Richard Barnes, 65, has denied that he intentionally uploaded the frank pictures, which feature full frontal shots of his meat'n'two veg. The images were deleted soon after. The photos …

    Pix or it didn't happen.

"Do you really think I would be that f****** stupid after 30 years in politics?”

Yes. After all, you were stupid enough to take the pictures in the first place.

Re: Pix or it didn't happen.

He's denied that he's even seen the photos, and he's denying all knowledge of their existence.

There's proof of 30 years' experience in politics right there.

Taking the pictures isn't the problem.

Not understanding the medium when publishing them is the problem.

The fucking moron is absolutely clueless about current technology.

The scary part is that the fucking moron is involved in policy & procedure decisions in a nuclear state ...

London is a nuclear state? We must launch the missile strike against Slough now!

I'm starting to feel like a bit of a weirdo here. Am I the only person left in the world who hasn't taken naked pictures of themselves on their 'phone ?

Obviously I have the specialist stuff done by the professional from Playgirl, but that was, as previously discussed, just a way of generating money for drugs and prostitutes.........

Well... Look on the bright side, at least we know GCHQ snooping isn't being used by politicians to vet other politicians so might be held in check a little more than we feared.

... But then again, why has Cameron been looking so happy recently.

Re: Pix or it didn't happen.

Erm... if the pictures are of the 'meat'n'veg' framed by unbuttoned shirt and pants, how does anyone know if it's him at all? Is his face in any of the pictures?

      1. Lallabalalla

Re: Pix or it didn't happen.

I saw a pixellated version the other day, before they were all taken down. Yes, it was him. It wasn't the face that was pixellated ;)

OTOH who really cares. Silly fail and all that, but hoho! Now move on.

Not the ones I saw, but they were poor quality so someone could have easily stuck his face on.

"but the simple fact is that he hasn’t actually done anything wrong"

True, unless it turned out that the Member was the Member of the Member himself.

It might then be argued that such behavior constitutes "Exposing onself in a Public place".

You can't get more Public than the Internet.

No, you categorically deny. To refute is to prove that the allegations are false.

      This line tickled me too...

"Barnes appears to have escaped with the support of his colleagues intact" - original euphemistic double-entendre? Never heard them referred to as "colleagues" before, exposed or otherwise. Paxman will be quizzing him about his outfitter sometime soon...

    Forget the member...

The photo is not the problem, it is the fact he is so flagrantly denying it despite the evidence. As a politician he has lost the trust of the public. Had he said "yeah, bit embarrassing eh, I made a mistake" then he would have done nothing wrong but lying in the face of the evidence is ridiculous.

      Mysterious "hackers" strike again.

I'm worried now, if my phone is hacked does it force me to undress and take multiple photos in front of a mirror? Unbelieveable what they can do with technology these days.

I HATE such flaky, cop out, excuses. "I messed up and automatically uploaded some pictures that were never intended to be seen by anyone but my current squeeze" and this story would blow over.

But pretending you're not responsible, when it's photos YOU clearly took (i.e this isn't a friend or lover taking snaps then going straight to the media) it just makes you appear even more foolish than someone who's put wang-photos on the net.

      1. SolidSquid

        Re: Forget the member...

Don't be silly, it was his Facebook account which was accessed and that gave them access to all those photos on his phone. After all, he's clearly stated that he didn't upload the photos there

Are you being serious or have I mis read?

There would be lots of consequences to someone getting your facebook login but the ability to access pictures stored on a phone is not one of them.

        Re: Mysterious "hackers" strike again

Can hackers really induce a man to pull down his trouers, whip out his iPhone, and snap pictures of his tackle? Or were the pictures taken at a discrete distance, then enhanced with one of those computers they use on CSI?

    common sense infraction

If the chap wants to take pictures of his own junk, good for him. Each to their own.

But even a technical illiterate knows that having such pics on your mobile phone is just asking for trouble. You would think a politician would understand this more than most. If he's guilty of anything its having a complete disregard for common sense, for which I am sure the press will duly punish him.

    Terrible hacking experience

“Have you ever been hacked? Well I have been hacked. Someone’s got in there and put the picture up.”

Yes, sure, that someone's also got into your house, unbuttoned your shirt, pulled down your trousers and took the pictures. While you were totally unaware of the dirty hackers being there. That must be exactly how it's happened.
