    legal?

    While I agree in principle with symantecs efforts here, curious as to the legal basis allowing them to take this action? disputing computer communications is surely a crime in most jurisdictions, and who are they to decide when this is an appropriate action?

      Usually specific permission has to be sought from courts in order to carry out this work.

    Since this is Symantec I'll just assume the word "bots" should be replaced with the phrase "home users PC's".

      They sold a copy of Symantec super ultra internet security centre deluxe to an infected user, now the computer is too slow to be useful as a bot.
