    App cr*p

    Your Android app has a lot of room for improvement.

    The app scrolls randomly when writing a comment.

    About 20% of the pages load blank, corrected by re-entering the offending pages.

    Could we have a single log in?

    Annoyingly needs to be logged in everytime a comment written.

    Could we have an option to up or down rate a comment in the app?

    Running this on Android 2.6.

    Anyone else having the same problem?

      Re: App cr*p

      Our Android and Apple apps are developed by a third party software house - and we will forward your feedback - but I am not aware of anyone else reporting the problems you are experiencing.

    RE: App cr*p

    Thank you.

    A quick helpful response.

    - The Reg-App has you name on, not the third parties, so you'll be the one held responsible.

    - I can accept this could be an issue individual to me, but these problems are consistant, so unlikely to be a glitch. Have you tried posting via the app yourself?

    - Have you had any feedback on your App?

      Re: RE: App cr*p

      Hi Dewix,

      I'm Ben from Ocasta Studios - we're the third party that developed the iOS and Android apps for The Reg.

      Could you clarify a few of questions for us;

      Please can you confirm the app is the latest version? The easiest way to do this is visit the Google Play listing and see if there's an option to [Update]. A couple of the issues you're experiencing relate to the launch version of the app which we quickly patched up. If you are up to date if you'd try a quick delete and download again.

      Android 2.6 isn't an officially released version of Android. Please can you check what version is reported from http://whatismyandroidversion.com

      Finally what make and model is your device?

      Thanks!

    App is up to date.

    My mistake on the Android version;

    2.3.7 (Gingerbread) on an LG P990

    Thumb Down

    App re-installed...

    Still jumps about when typing into the text field.

    Wow, didn't even realise there was an app for The Register...

    Can't help feeling a mobile friendly site would've been a better option - one code-base and everything (assuming you finally get around to getting an SSL cert for logins).

      Um...

      There is a mobile-friendly site for El Reg, and has been there for quite some time. If anything, my only complaint there is that I can't add an icon to my comments. But it is pretty friendly for mobiles :)

        Re: Um...

        Wow, learnt another thing - only been browsing the Register for 6 years!

        Not sure what script they're using for mobile detection though, as doesn't offer to redirect on my device.

          We don't do mobile redirects atm.

            "We don't do mobile redirects atm"

            And long may it continue!

            Some sense in a sea of of User-Agent sniffing I once thought was in our past, but is unfortunately alive and kicking in tthe mobile world...

    Update

    New phone (Galaxy Note 3), Latest OS and a fresh download of the Registers App.

    Network (3) and broadband are still the same.

    Conclusion:

    As bug filled as a dead dog on an ant hill.

    Easier to use the browser to access El Regards.

    Used the app for 1 day and found;

    - The app still loads blank pages.

    - Links are no longer active after 3 min of use.

    - App does not remember my login credentials, still.

    - Hangs while loading occasionally.

    On the plus side;

    The random scroll is gone though.

    Feedback

    Drewc, could you read the android app market feedback?

    It looks like I'm not the only one experiencing troubles.

    There seems to be one or two 5 stars (app Dev's marketing team?) but it's mostly negative feedback.

    You're getting panned out there.
