    If the military weren't so fixated on this frequency, we could've freed up the DCS bands and allowed the use of LTE Band III, aligning us with most of the civilized world in terms of an open cell frequencies.

    Paired wires?

    The two wires commonly used for telephones were not separate send/receive, as that would be way too sensitive to ground noise, but a twisted pair used bi-directionally:

      2 wires are only used at the end point.4 wire was used for much of the bachaul...in the good ol' days of course.

      Should have been compared to four-wire full-duplex; hybrid networks in analog phones separated incoming from outgoing audio.

    A mere $3.5bn, or 0.18% of the $1.9T cost of the Iraq War (according to the Congressional Budget Office - some others estimate it much higher). That sounds like a bargain.
