    Supervillain

This is the backstory of a supervillain if I've ever heard one. Scientist barred from experimenting with Humans, censured & excommunicated by the majority of the scientific community for unethical research practices, hired by shadowy Asian laboratory to do cloning research then gets into resurrecting giant extinct mammals. Next step, bringing to life the Revengeasaur to seek retribution on those who dared laugh at him!

The closest I can think of off hand is Jonathan Maberry's The Dragon Factory - the second (or is it third?) Joe Ledger novel. (Enjoyable reads, all of 'em!)

IIRC the supervillains in that aren't so much cloning as genetically engineering, with the end result being mythical creatures made real - but there might have been some cloning of extinct creatures as well.

    I want my...

    Jurassic Park dinosaurs...

And while we're about it, could someone design:

    1 - a Unicorn

    2 - a Roc

    3 - a Dragon

    4 - a Kraken

5 - an honest politician (Ok, maybe some things will remain impossible...)

      Re: I want my...

all of those are mythical, you can only reanimate what once existed.

"all of those are mythical, you can only reanimate what once existed."

I'd imagine that's why he said "design" rather than "reanimate." ;-)

So we just need a Dragon Factory and a pair of evil twins. (See my post further up!)

Dodgy Geezer, there are honest politicians out there! An honest politician is one who stays bought, so it is safe to say there are at least a few.

Mammoth burgers, perfect for the Merkin market.

A burger that just sounds bigger.

10 000 years in permafrost. I think there's a sporting chance few cells might be viable.

    Revenge of the Mammoths!

Scenario: Mammoth blood contains a once thought extinct virus, transferable to humankind.

That's why the ancient people killed all the mammoths.
