Face full of tadpoles
I suppose that arriving at the check-out desk, after having facially received a wad of wet wobblers, wouldn't have been a very subtle idea either.

Being unfamiliar with the word "porwiggle" and given the general "sniggering behind the bikesheds" tone of the proceedings around these parts, I thought this story was euphemistically referring to that other liquid containing 'tadpoles' which Marc Almond would [allegedly!] have no trouble in smuggling past airport security.
<sigh>
1) airport security asked her to test the liquid in a bottle to prove it wasnt harmful by drinking it.
2) she took a mouthful but wouldnt swallow.
3) when she spat it out it had tadpoles in it.
4) security let her on her way after confiscating the tadpole infested liquid.
I assume the authorities dont examine the bottles too much they simply see liquid and ask the person to quaff it. I also assume that since moving tadpoles are quite visible in clear water the bottle was in some way opaque or the liquid was some way opaque.
'I think ketlan is under the mistaken impression that she was walking around with porwigle in her mouth, (like some sort of brooding cichlid), and that the bottle contained just water.'
Precisely. Right, and thank you, Danny14. Got it now.
I'm not always this dense you know. Only on Wednesdays (geddit).
I think ketlan is under the mistaken impression that she was walking around with porwigle in her mouth, (like some sort of brooding cichlid), and that the bottle contained just water.
It might be that this phrase...
"the airline's strict no-flying-with-baby-frogs-in-your-mouth policy",
...is the cause of his confusion.
The tadpoles were dead anyway the minute they entered her mouth. They are terribly fragile creatures and extremely sensitive to changes in PH. Most people don't know that even after touching some barehanded in the wild and releasing them, apparently unharmed, they often die a few hours later.
My wife led a large tadpole study years ago and this is the only reason I know this. I am in no way a tadpole expert.
