back to article Singapore allows pre-crime strikes against online crooks

The Singaporean government has passed amendments to the city-state’s Computer Misuse Act, renaming it the Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act, and granting itself powers to take proactive measures against a potential cyber threat before it disrupts critical infrastructure. The Ministry of Home Affairs released a statement on …

IT don't grow on trees, you know, therefore you can fully expect it to be designedly expensive

Good luck with that crazy phish, Singapore.

Perhaps you might like to consider blunt ignorant excessive financial reward to any CII-related person with the abilities/skillsets/virtual intelligence required/sought, although there is the not inconsiderable and abiding increasingly more important difficulty in recognising the desired necessary target to engage with. 'Tis a much more effective approach and solution, methinks.

You are henceforth banned from posting comments on El Reg. The CII directorate have determined that your posts contain encrypted strings that are intended to disrupt the El Reg forum servers. The CII directorate are unable to determine the exact nature and potential consequences of this attack but they feel that 'better safe that sorry' is a good principle, and they need to be seen to be doing something.

        Sieg Heil, frank ly.

And I'm not saying that you got anything wrong in that intelligent reply, but the opposite of "intended to disrupt the El Reg forum servers." is well enough known by El Reg, and others, to be the actual truth in a world with worlds which spin deceit and half truths to try and hide shenanigans which perpetrators know would not be accepted by the great unwashed masses.

And all of these types of little chats all over the internet and across networks are increasingly quickly and quietly, sublimely and stealthily educating a still relatively primitive Mankind to their real condition/situation and the cynical abuse which they are subjected to.

As the T-shirt says, Singapore is a fine city. A fine if you do this, a fine if you that or a fine if you don't do something else.

    What could possibly go wrong?

    Planning is not doing

Always found it funny how you could be arrested and jailed for planning an act.

I always believed that you where innocent until proven guilty, so with out actually committing an illegal act what is there to be guilty of.

Just to prove my point on how stupid this is - "I have created plans to take over the world but I'm not ready or cannt be bothered to intact said plans yet"

I guess I'm now a national threat to every country in the world. Just to let you know my plan heavily relies on stolen alien technology and Kittens.

Singaporean government does not muck about when it comes to passing legislation.

Why the surprise? Singapore is a dictatorship in all but name.

Mentor minister, walking dead, LEE Kwan-Yew still runs the show. Has since day one.

He has a wet dream and in a couple of weeks a new law. A minister gets chewing gum on his shoe and, Bingo!, chewing gum is banned.

If an area of Singapore votes against LKY, suddenly there is a new urban renewal project with all the dissidents scattered to other parts of the island so no more anti-government votes.

All the telephone and communication systems are 'monitored' for quality - he doesn't need a GCHQ - it's part of the government. When the InterNet was put in every hard drive wa searched remotely to ensure that no one had 'hot' software. Domestic InterNet connections are subject to a form of Chinese Fire Wall where LEE imposes his thoughts on what is proper us of the InterNet. Commercial users get unlimited InterNet but they better ensure the right isn't abused - no porn, etc.

Newspapers and magazines are censored - those little holes in the imported papers are where the censors set to work.

Then LKY ended up with albino children which he public blamed his daughter-in-law for having 'bad genes'. She committed suicide. And his Ministry for Unmarried Women ... his attempt to marry off the surplus, ageing spinsters. Then there was the LKY theory or evolution. If a mother of children went to university, so can the children. If only the husband went - problems and difficulties getting into uni.

They even dug up all the grave yards and cremated all the remains then stuffed them in the walls of especially created high-rises. They then use the cleared land to build new high-rises ... for people.

They don't have farm animals in Singapore, that's a waste of resources. Pork, ironically, comes from a Muslim country - Indonesia.

The Computer Misuse Act is simply another way of controlling the population. No wonder so many Singaporeans buy one way tickets, emigrating to really free countries in the West.

The best things about Singapore are the low taxes/duties and the departure lounge in Changi Airport, hard by the Changi Jail.

I helped pull the fiber into Singapore. With my own two hands. I am ashamed of myself.

Humans need to grow up before they get that kinda connectivity.

Some of us Yanks built the tool that tools like yourself use for connectivity. Think about it.
