      Seems to be CompuServe, actually.

Actually CompuServe still exists, in German mobile phone documentation:

    What's most surprising

Where do these users pop up from.. Is there really an endless number of park benches under which hide these people until such times as "another" social media website opens up ?

Why is there such a large percentage of people with this same requirement. What the fuck went wrong with society....????

Is this the beginning of new Religion ? It's even scarier than the old ones.......

      Re: What's most surprising

I've often wondered that myself. Anyone who's ever built a website will know just what an uphill struggle it is to gain any kind of traction and gain users with a new web presence. But, no matter how pointless, moronic and "me too" these new social shit-spewing sites are, they always seem to spring into existence with a fully developed membership of seemingly hundreds of people.

I wonder how many of them are actual flesh and blood, as opposed to bots?

I'm surprised the editor found the one site where you have to solve captchas = look at ads to find out which letters on your phone keypad resolve to which numbers. That's a whole new low in trying to monetize any service.

    Quote from The Prisoner

I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Was The Prisoner really an instruction manual on how to run modern England?

  15. Christian Berger

I don't see how that would be anonymous

It'll probably just take weeks until there are lists of "social numbers" and real life identities are out there. In fact my name is far more anonymous than any of those numbers as there are many people sharing my first and last name.
