    The market doesn't want unified storage? Really?

    Got a chuck(le) out of the comment "we would end up with something similar to NetApp, and the market doesn't want that." Um, Chuck might want to take a look at the calendar, its nearly 2013 and apparently customers do want universal storage that's agile and unified.

      Unified, maybe, but I'm not sure in what alternate universe NetApp can be counted as agile.

      Lets see what turns out best, storage that presents itself as a jack of all trades or purpose built storage for specific application and workload needs :-)

      I mean, NetApp started off as a filer for a reason right?

      Yea, way to finally integrate software you guys purchased in 2004. How have IMC, Decru, Alacritus, and Topia's IP done?

      And why would you ever come into this conversation with this angle? There's a reason NetApp bought Engenio, and it undermines any single point you just tried to make.

      You need to learn from D from NetApp's playbook, cry "FUD" and unleash the dogs of marketingspeak.

    Try to cut beef steak with Swiss Army knife

    Jack of all trade is good ... but try using Swiss Army Knife to cut a beef steak? Or you prefer to use a purpose built knife for that job.

    While we all love a universal - one equipment to rule them all stuff .. but sometime it just does not make the cut for some task. Well .. it could meet at at least 60% of the requirement though ...
