    Uhhggg, VCast.

The only reason people look their is that Verizon programs their phones so that every function key and mistaken key press takes you there. And perhaps buys something you didn't intend to.

They could have made it an organized, trusted marketplace. Instead it felt like a locked-in scam from the beginning.

    Good riddance

Who cares about organized and trusted

How about actually providing developers with some functionality worth integrating? Charge to customer bill, QoS, out of quota downloads, integration to FIOS home gateway functionality, integration to the FIOS home security offering, etc?

Yeah, I know - too difficult and it requires technical effort instead of mee-too marketeering.

And this is why DRM is a bad idea. Couldn't ever happen to Steam?

    I'm not taking the chance.

    sucks

You could get apps that wouldn't even work on your device. It was crap &instanly bill your Verizon account. It sucked. Best left to someone else.

That would be the store where they charged your data plan just for viewing the apps, even when on wifi. Was it ever going to succeed with such a stupid plan?

    Blackberry's app store

The last update to Blackberry's app store borked it and removed it from the phone. Been like that for a few days now.

Network Operators still don't realize customers don't like their sleazy ways

Firstly, Network Operators have this patronizing way of thinking that Customers will not notice how sleazy they are.

We remember all the telco supported phone scams, and everything other nuisance they threw in our way.

To think we'd voluntarily use a store or anything else they create is folly.

We sign contracts with them, cause there's no way around it, they own the network. Given this hostage like relationship, how do they ever figure we'd consider them as anything remotely similar to the mom&pop bakery on the corner?
