    Why wait 'til Windows Server 2012 R2

    The Windows Server 2012 kernel is shared with Windows-8 which has already been ported to ARM.. I'd be pretty sure that Dell & HP have a skunkworks Windows Server build for testing

      Rumor is Microsoft explicitly said 2012 (R1) would not be ported to ARM. Since it has not been ruled out (yet) for 2012 R2 the hope is it might show up then.

    Fascinating article and really shows how much datacentres have changed over the last decade or so. Great to see ARM instrumental in this change too - I just hope they continue to take on Intel and AMD and don't sell out.

    That sentence makes no sense. Do you mean each copper server has room for a dozen sleds?

    Dell has a higher density per rack U than HP

    One correction is needed from the author of this article. The SL6500 chassis from HP is 4U in height and this means a density of 72 servers per rack unit, as it is written in this previous article on the Redstone servers http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/11/01/hp_redstone_calxeda_servers/ . This means Dell achieves a much higher density with 90 servers per rack unit. The article presents HP as having the greatest density. You should revise the article and insert the corrected information.

      Absolutely correct. Read my own story wrong as noted elsewhere. Dell has the advantage density wise, packing 5 sleds in 4Us compared to HP's 4 sleds in 4Us

        That's 25% more density than HP Redstone, not just "a little" more :).
