    South Korea censorship

    Have they conveniently forgotten that South Korea is also amongst the developed countries with the most Internet censorship by the government?

    It's also one of the few countries when you need to put your National ID card number in just to order pizza (or other pizza places) online..

    What's so great about fast Internet when sk.gov watches over your shoulder and blocks anything they don't agree with?

    I'll take my rural broadband thank you very much.

      I doubt they've "forgotten" that.

      They probably just decided that the South Korean government's civil liberties policies had no place in a report which concerned itself with measuring 'ICT economy advancement' —in the same way that they also failed to mention endemic obesity in the USA and the miserable British weather.

      Like your comment, they were completely irrelevant to the topic of discussion.

    I fail to see how countries like The Netherlands, Austria, Spain and Italy, to name but a few, are not on this list and so, presumably, worse than Nigeria etc. Perhaps a few people forgot to send in their forms?

    Their comms are great, but when I was in country a few years ago, a lot of IT systems are very, very old. Lots of businesses are still using CRTs

      CRTs are better than LCDs in technical aspects but weight/size and affordability let it down.

      Faster response times, superior color gamut, no motion blur, no pixilation, superior contrast.

    Graph does not make sense

    What are the grey numbers on the right supposed to represent? I don't think it's what it says (where have all the other numbers gone?).

      That's a really good question. Assuming it is a select few of the nations from the big list, the numbers in grey don't match the numbers in the report, as far as I can tell:

      Here's a little copy/paste from page 21 in the report, 5 columns.

    Having a bit of a problem here...

    ...trying to reconcile the following statement :-

    "...while Australia remained in 21st position."

    with the sub-heading :-

    "UK climbs to fifth as Australia, USA, also take big leaps up league table"

    while graph seems to indicate that Australia was in 26th place last year.

    Anyone?
